About the Program

What is the VHC Program?

Care Direct Group is proud to be registered as a Veterans' Home Care (VHC) Program Provider and a Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) Health Provider across Queensland.

Our program is dedicated to providing essential support and assistance to veterans through our Veterans' Home Care (VHC) services. Our goal is to enable veterans to continue living independently by offering practical help tailored to their unique needs.

The VHC Program is funded by the Department of Veterans' Affairs and provides a range of services to eligible veterans and war widows/widowers. Services are designed to help people remain living safely and comfortably in their own homes.

Who Can Receive Our Services?

  • Gold Card holders (all conditions covered)
  • White Card holders (for accepted service-related conditions)
  • War widows and widowers
  • Veterans with a qualifying pension
  • Eligible dependants of veterans

What We Provide

VHC Services Available

Domestic Assistance

Help with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and general tidying to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.

Personal Care

Assistance with daily personal activities including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support.

Respite Care

Temporary relief for carers, allowing them to take a break while ensuring the veteran continues to receive quality care.

Home and Garden Maintenance

For home and lawn maintenance, we cover tasks like replacing light bulbs, cleaning gutters, ceiling fans and windows, and even non-safety-related lawn mowing.

Social Assistance

CVC Social Assistance is a 12 week service designed to (re)connect socially isolated CVC participants into community life. The service is designed to empower the CVC participant to meet their need for social contact and/or company.

How to Access VHC Services

Check Your Eligibility

Confirm you hold a Gold Card or White Card from DVA, or are a war widow/widower.

Get a VHC Assessment

Contact DVA or your GP to arrange a Veterans' Home Care assessment to determine your needs.

Choose Care Direct Group

Request Care Direct Group as your preferred VHC provider when speaking with your assessor.

We Come to You

Our team will contact you to arrange services at a time that suits you — right in your own home.
